The row between John Lydon and Bloc Party's Kele Okereke simmers on with the Sex Pistol issuing a statement in which he denies the attack, and claims the argument was due to "jealousy".
The two were backstage at the Summercase event in Spain when an argument broke out that forced members of Kaiser Chiefs and Foals to intervene on Okereke's behalf. The Bloc Party singer has alleged that he was the victim of an unprovoked attack by Lydon and his entourage.
However Lydon refutes the indie star's version of events, saying that "I feel very sorry for a man who needs to lie about what was a perfect evening". According to Lydon he was signing autographs, an action which "seems to have sparked jealousy in certain bands".
"The trouble was brought to us, resulting in those causing the trouble being physically removed by festival security."
He added: "We are in the middle of a wonderful tour, after 30 years we are achieving a true unity in our audience. They are multi-varied, all ages, all races, creeds and colours.
"When you are at a festival with bands who are jealous fools, lies and confusion usually follow. If they need publicity so badly this is the allegation universe they run into."
