Joey Bada$$ Raps On J Dilla Beat

Listen to ‘Two Lips’ now...

Joey Bada$$ has recorded some rhymes over a newly discovered J Dilla beat.

J Dilla’s death in 2006 robbed hip hop of one of its most potent instrumental voices. Carving out his own style, the producer’s tragic demise has only served to enhance his cult aura.

Thankfully, Dilla recorded widely during his career with beats still being unearthed. Clothing company Akomplice has released a collection inspired by the beatsmith, and to accompany this a one off seven inch is set to be released.

Containing a previously unheard J Dilla beat, the flip features a contribution from Golden Age aficionado Joey Bada$$.

Rolling Stone got the premiere, with Joey Bada$$ stating: “Working on this project alongside Akomplice and the J Dilla Foundation was a great success… I thank both parties for allowing me to be a part of it and allowing me to use unreleased beats by my favorite producer of all time. It’s a brighter day.”
