Rilo Kiley singer keeps busy

One time Rilo Kiley singer Jenny Lewis has confirmed plans for a film score and a new solo album.

A much loved American institution, the demise of Rilo Kiley was as sad as it was perhaps inevitable. Almost exactly 12 months on, singer Jenny Lewis is busying herself by preparing a number of new projects.

Firstly, Jenny Lewis is set to score a new independent film. Written and directed by Naomi Foner, 'Very Good Girls' stars Dakota Fanning and Elizabeth Olsen as friends who compete for the affections of a boy. (via CoS)

Serving as composer and music advisor, Jenny Lewis will piece together a soundtrack for 'Very Good Girls'. IMDB reports that the film is slated to be released next year.

Alongside this, Jenny Lewis is also working on a full solo album. Speaking to OC Weekly, the songwriter admitted that the turbulent time in her life - including Rilo Kiley's demise - has been fuelling this burst of fresh material.

“I’ve gotten my heart broken, and fallen in love, and moved out my shitty rent-controlled apartment, and lost my father, and tried to rebuild my relationship with my mother" she explained. "All of these things have definitely popped up in my songs and I want to write something that’s real that people can feel.”

Fancy a preview? Well, as Spin point out Jenny Lewis has been dropping new material into her live performances. Caught in action at the Henry Miller Library in Big Sur, here's an as yet untitled new effort.
