American rap titan Jay-Z has confirmed he is set to perform at next year's Brit awards ceremony.
Long showbiz royalty in the United States, Jay-Z seems to have finally cracked British audiences. The rapper is one of the most powerful men in the American entertainment industry, and recently extended his grasp over the Atlantic.
Latest album 'The Blueprint 3' swapped straight up hip hop for something a little more pop flavoured, with Jay-Z scoring big as a result. Hits such as 'Empire State Of Mind' raced into the Top Ten turning the rapper into a household name.
A memorable performance on 'Later...' saw Jay-Z rock the suitably stiff crowd, before a show at Alexandra Palace pushed the rapper into the stratosphere.
With his latest album 'The Blueprint 3' scoring big across the globe, the British music industry seems to have finally succumbed to the rapper's charms. Now Jay-Z is set to perform at next year's Brit Awards, one of the nation's biggest music industry events.
The awards season may be some months away, but preparations are already in place. Jay-Z has been confirmed as playing at the Brit award ceremony in Earls Court, with the rapper set to perform a medley of his hits.
In addition to this the hip hop don is rumoured to be preparing a surprise collaboration. Could it be wife Beyonce? Or even Coldplay star Christ Martin?
Time will tell, although it should be stated that Jay-Z is not the only act confirmed for the Brits in 2010. Robbie Williams is set to pick up his 'Outstanding Contribution To Music Prize' and will no doubt invite Take That along for the performance.
The Brit Awards will take place on February 16th.
