Jax Jones Hands Out Some Tips For Notting Hill Carnival

Oh, and grab some new music while you're here...

Notting Hill Carnival is a truly unique event.

A celebration of vitality, culture, music, and life, its deep roots in Black British life have come to stand for the ability to share, to work as equals.

It's also a helluva a party. Jax Jones is a carnival veteran, a man who knows all the nooks and crannies of West LDN – and he'll be your guide this weekend.

Yep, Clash have invited Jax to piece together some carnival tips ahead of this year's 50th anniversary instalment, and we've also got some new music to share.

Jax Jones recently stepped into the studio with MNEK and Mike Dunn, and he's handed a special VIP version of that tune to Clash.

Tune in now – then check his carnival tips after the jump.

1. First and foremost, to maximise your Notting hill carnival vibes check out the carnival sound system map in publications like Time Out. Its a bait one but planning in advance of who you want to see is very necessary because its rammed when you get there!

2. Decide a group meeting point for all your friends on one of the side streets entering the carnival. There is absolutely no phone reception AND even if you manage to call your mate it’s so hard to hear!

3. Bring some toilet roll. From my experience there aren't any public toilets to use in Notting Hill Carnival, so what happens is the inhabitants of Notting Hill kindly allow you to piss in their garden over the weekend. If you are looking for a posher experience you can always knock on someone’s door and pay them to use their loo.

4. The last one is a simple tip but easily forgotten. Don't. Wear. White. Trainers.
