Jarvis Heads To Arctic
Crew Of Musicians Heads North
Avast me hearties! A pop-tastic crew of sea dogs including Jarvis Cocker and KT Tunstall have set sail for the Arctic in order to observe environmental change close up, it has been announced.
As bizarre as it sounds, the crew of guitar pluckin' lyric writin' castaways set sail on September 25th alongside a crack team of scientists. The aim of the mission is to observe the Jakobshavn Glacier, "one of Greenland's largest glaciers moving at a faster rate than ever before, losing 20 million tons of ice every day," according to the description from expedition organizers Cape Farewell.
Amongst the crew of musicians is cult songwriter Robyn Hitchcock, who requested that everyone bring a guitar for a little Arctic jam session. The list of musicians includes the afore-mentioned Jarvis Cocker and KT Tunstall alongside Robyn Hitchcock, Martha Wainwright, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Laurie Anderson. If worst comes to worse, which one will they eat first?
There is no word on when the crew are due to return.
