Jarvis Cocker Single Plans

Host of new releases due

Former Pulp singer turned solo star Jarvis Cocker has confirmed details of a new limited edition single, alongside a host of other projects.

Jarvis Cocker holds one of the most unlikely records in Radio One history. His band Pulp first recorded a session for John Peel in the early 80s, and took nearly ten years to justify a return to Maida Vale.

However when they did, Pulp arrived as conquering heroes. Defining the Britpop era with a string of classic singles, the band blended an oddball pop mixture with Jarvis Cocker's stunning lyrical wit.

Now solo, Jarvis Cocker returned earlier this year with his new album 'Further Complications'. Recorded with Steve Albini at the helm it introduced a harsh new range of sounds to Cocker's songwriting.

Released to widespread acclaim, the singer will now follow up his successful new album with a limited edition single. With only 1000 copies being made available, fans had better act quick to bag a copy of the new single.

Containing 'Further Complications' - the title track of his recent album - the single also has a fresh new B-side. 'Girls Like It Too' is inspired by John Peel, the broadcaster who helped push Jarvis Cocker onto a bigger stage.

The song's title comes from a speech made at John Peel's funeral by his brother Alan. It seems that the younger Ravenscroft asked his big brother John for some advice on how to deal with the lustful thoughts that were beginning to stir in his teenage body and John replied "Just remember: girls like it too".

Alongside the single Jarvis Cocker will be starring in the forthcoming adaptation of 'The Fantastic Mr Fox'. The singer has added his voice to the film, which is due for general release later this year.

Jarvis Cocker is due to release his new single 'Further Complications' on November 9th.
