'I Was A Cat From A Book' due on August 13th

Fife troubadour James Yorkston today announced that he’ll be coming back with a new album.

‘I Was A Cat From A Book’ will be his first release since 2008’s ‘When The Haar Rolls In’. The new release is set to come out on August 13th 2012 via Domino. It was recorded without The Athletes. A new band made from members of Lamb and The Cinematic Orchestra play here, with old friends helping out too.

In the four year interim James Yorkston has published a book ‘It’s Lovely To Be Here’ and collaborated with The Big Eyes Family Players on ‘Folk Songs’, a collection of revamped traditional songs. The Fife folkie also saw the passing of a decade since his debut Moving Up Country, which also came out on the Domino label.

A track from the album ‘Catch’ has been unveiled to coincide with the news of his return. It’s the first new material fans have had in a long time and is sure to whet the appetite as things get underway in anticipation of the full-length. For those preferring to get this release on Vinyl, it’ll be coming out on 10” with two extra exclusive tracks ‘Thar She Blows’ and ‘Black Horse White’.

There will also be a special box-set edition featuring a DVD of James Yorkston’s intimate performance at Union Chapel last year, plus the aforementioned vinyl, and a remix album by David ‘A’ Jaycock.
