James Murphy and 2ManyDJs are set to bring their Despacio project to London for two very special nights.
Conceptual clubbing, that's the thing. These days, it seems that a normal, peak time club set is passe for most selectors - instead, they need to think of something more left field.
With the likes of Four Tet and Ben UFO hosting lengthy one off events, it falls to James Murphy and 2ManyDJs to once again raise the bar. Debuted earlier this year, Despacio is billed as a "one-of-a-kind custom built sound system".
Designed by James Murphy - DFA of course began as the Death From Above soundrig - the project was helmed by renowned audio technician/engineer John Klett and powered by sound experts McIntosh.
In total, the audience will be surrounded by some seven 50,000-watts, eleven-foot tall speakers to provide a truly immersive sonic experience. Musing on the project recently, the DJ trio said:
"We were like: we need a night here. We wanted a billboard which didn’t look like any of the other shitty billboards. Something that was just a different thing. We were like, “Let’s have a party, it’ll be regular, let’s build a sound system…"
Taking Despacio to London, James Murphy and 2ManyDJs will play two nights at the Ballroom of Hammersmith Town Hall. Playing a vinyl only set, this promises to be something very special indeed...
Despacio hits the Ballroom of Hammersmith Town Hall on December 19th and 20th.
