James Murphy Forms New Band

LCD Man Announces Side Project

LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy has announced that he is part of a new band who are set to release material soon, according to reports.

The dance producer, DJ and controversial head of hip imprint DFA is apparently part of a new collective that includes his friend and fellow DJ Pat Mahoney. Also set to be included in the new project are New York musicians Paul Sprangers and Scott Wells, with Pitchfork reporting that the group may be called Hockey Night.

Although the band haven't yet decided on a name, the group are thought to be in the advanced stages of writing and recording. Murphy of course had a long history in the New York punk scene before heading into the dance world.

Murphy is set to play bass in the group, with new material expected to be released next year.

In the meantime, LCD Soundsystem fans can content themselves with a special night at London nightclub Matter on October 24th.. Featuring a special set from Murphy, it will also host many fellow DFA acts.
