James Brown

Legendary Godfather of Soul James Brown may have finally stopped gigging after his untimely death, but he is still earning after some of his possessions were auctioned - raising £400,000.

The music legend James Brown died on Christmas Day 2006, and his estate has been in limbo ever since. His family attempted to block the sale of the items, with arguments breaking out over ownership.

Amongst the items up for sales were hairspray, jumpsuits, hair curlers and - Clashmusic.com's favourite - an original Hammond B3 organ. The most expensive item at the sale was a black cape with "James Brown" written on the back which sold for £23,500.

Even in death, James Brown remains hot property.
