Jack White For Zeppelin?

Singer Discounts Rumors

Lead singer of The White Stripes Jack White has distanced himself from rumors that suggest he is to join Led Zeppelin as a replacement for Robert Plant.

Rumors circulating online - where else? - had linked Jack White to replace the golden haired singer. Led Zeppelin were a primary influence on The White Stripes, whose raw and ragged take on the blues echoed the approach of the legendary Brit rockers.

Indeed, White's high voice has often been compared to Plant, much to the singer's chagrin - White went as far as saying in one interview that Plant's voice was his least favorite aspect of the Zeppelin sound.

A source close to White told the British daily rag The Daily Star that "I do not believe you can have a band called Led Zeppelin, singing Zeppelin songs, without Plant.”

Speculation about the future of Led Zeppelin has been almost constant since the band reformed late last year for a benefit at the O2 Arena. Plant has refused to take part in any further reunions, leading some to suggest that the band would be prepared to replace him.
