Man of many talents Jack White is set to produce a new single with British folk darling Laura Marling.

Jack White doesn't like to sit still. Alongside The Dead Weather - whose second album dropped earlier this year - the Nashville based musician has extended his Third Man imprint, releasing a slew of material.

Hooking up with everyone from rockabilly queens to quantum physicists, the label has released a series of intriguing singles. Now Jack White has teamed up with British folk darling Laura Marling for a forthcoming single.

The singer returned with her second album earlier this year, 'I Speak Because I Can' was a lush, wonderful record. With her typically evocative lyrics, the release marked Laura Marling out as a major songwriting talent.

Touring across the world, Laura Marling bumped into Jack White while playing shows in the United States. Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, the Nashville based producer revealed that he was delighted to be working with her.

"It was perfect - one take," he said. "She's gorgeous. Gorgeous voice and an incredible person. A wonderful girl."

Jack White explained that he first heard Laura Marling's music earlier this year after "somebody turned me onto her a few months back". The pair worked in his Nashville studio, with the single due to be released as part of White's Third Man Records 'Blue Series' and released on seven-inch vinyl.

The producer explained that he often gets in contact with acts he likes when they travel close to him. "If people are coming through town (Nashville) I try to catch up with them and ask them if they want to come by before their show and record something."

Jack White has been busy of late, with Third Man recently releasing a live album starring Conan O'Brien. On tour with The Dead Weather, the band played a storming set at Glastonbury over the weekend.

However fans of The Raconteurs and The White Stripes should prepare to be disappointed - Jack White has "nothing planned" with either group.
