On both sides of the Atlantic

Jack White could be set to top charts on both sides of the Atlantic with new album 'Blunderbuss'.
Jack White's return has been big news. 'Blunderbuss' is the guitarist's first album under his own name, constructed during sessions at his own Third Man studio.
Gaining widespread acclaim, 'Blunderbuss' is a typically electric selection matching original material with a cover of the R&B classic 'Shakin'. Now it seems that Jack White could well smash his way back into the mainstream.
'Blunderbuss' is sitting at the top of the mid week charts in the UK, with the United States set to follow suit. Battling against some tough competition - step forward Adele - Jack White could yet win out.
In the UK, Jack White is currently easing ahead of Adele with Rufus Wainwright's new album 'Out Of The Game' emerging as his main contender. These numbers are obviously boosted by pre-order sales, with the all important weekend figures yet to be compiled.
To launch the album, Jack White recently performed at London venue HMV Forum. Clash writer Sam Walker-Smart went along, and left suitably impressed with his transition to life as a solo artist.
"Strolling the stage and letting the crowd sing the oldie White beams from ear to ear, a few tears rolling down his pale, pale cheek. The transformation to awkward sounding “solo” artist has been a success and with a few rushed words the Willy Wonka of music runs backstage still overcome with emotion. Clash leaves on cloud nine and Jack being Jack we’re handed a surprise free poster as we leave – nice chap."
'Blunderbuss' is out now.
