Jack White Solo Album Rumours

White Stripes star working on new material

Jack White could be set to surprise fans, after a new interview stated that he would begin working on a solo album at the end of this year.

Jack White began life as an upholsterer, but given his renowned work ethic ClashMusic imagines that he fixed every chair in the Michigan area before lunch, the turned his attention to the rest of the United States after a tea break.

The man works HARD. With The White Stripes on hiatus to allow Meg to rest, Jack White has released two albums with The Raconteurs. Touring the world in the process, the band mixed classic rock influences with Jack White's wailing guitar.

The band are set to take time off, with fellow songwriter Brendan Benson preparing to release his new solo album later this year. A thrilling blast of power pop, it demonstrates that The Raconteurs were always about more than just Jack White.

Not content with being a full time member of two bands, Jack White recently launched yet another venture. The guitarist is due to helm The Dead Weather alongside Alison Mosshart and members of The Greenhornes and Queens Of The Stone Age.

Set to release their debut album later this year, The Dead Weather recently made their debut in Nashville in front of an invited audience that included White Stripes' drummer Meg White.

However in a new interview the guitarist seems to state that he is working on yet another project - a solo album. According to the new instalment of industry magazine Music Connection "Jack White aims to start working on a solo album at the end of 2009".

No other information is attached to the story, and the magazine do not include a quote to substantiate the claim. Jack White has recorded solo material before, contributing heartfelt versions of traditional ballads to the soundtrack of American Civil War epic 'Cold Mountain'.

If the claim is true, then Jack White would have an extremely busy schedule. The guitarist recently claimed that work on a new album by The White Stripes would begin soon, and in addition to his commitments with The Dead Weather the musician is planning to craft a film, amongst many other projects.

In the past Jack White's love of collaboration has landed the guitarist in deep water. Working on a Bond theme with Alicia Keys, the musician has also given a track to Coca Cola for use in an advertising campaign.

We honestly don't know how he finds the time...

The Dead Weather are due to release their debut album 'Horehound' over the summer.
