Jack White On Dead Weather

Jack White has revealed that he worried about heading out into the public with his new band The Dead Weather, as he feared he would be criticised for having too many musical projects.

Jack White is rock's workaholic. In addition to The White Stripes and The Raconteurs the guitarist is set to work on a new rockabilly single as well as his much talked about new group The Dead Weather.

The new band sees White join forces with Alison Mosshart of The Kills. The two have appeared onstage together before, with Mosshart joining The Raconteurs during an American show last year.

The Dead Weather sees White and Mosshart team up alongside members of The Greenhornes and Queens Of The Stone Age. A true superstar line up, the band recently played their first public show to an invited audience in Nashville.

However in a new interview Jack White revealed that he had doubts over unveiling the new band. "There was a self-consciousness, I think, but it was after the fact" he told Uncut. "When we started we didn't even know we were making a record or starting a band."

"But when you're finishing a project you remember, 'Oh that's right, we have to release this to the lions now.' And people are going to say, 'Oh right, they're both in two-piece guy/girl bands.' They're going to think we did it on purpose."

Continuing, White claimed he did not intend to start another group. The Raconteurs released an album last year, with The White Stripes set to begin work on their new album soon.

However the guitarist couldn't deny the chemistry that ran between the musicians. "It was a happy accident. Everybody involved really inspired each other. If we're hanging out and it's really working, it's unfair for me to say, 'OK sorry. I have this other successful band. Sorry, too busy.' That would be a shame."

The band were recently rocked by rumours that Jack White and new singer Alison Mosshart had a furious argument in New York after a lengthy drinking session. White, of course, was previously involved in a brawl with The Von Bondies mainman Jason Stollheimer.

But in a statement to fans Alison Mosshart revealed the event was a fabrication of the press, and insisted she was delighted to be involved with The Dead Weather.

The Dead Weather are set to release their debut album 'Horehound' over the summer.
