Ja Rule has denied leaving his wife for his former prison cell mate.
Hip hop is an undeniably masculine, frequently misogynistic genre - so the news that Ja Rule could be set to come out sparked furious speculation online.
Reports emerged from the United States indicating that the rapper had left his wife for another man. Ja Rule's former spouse Aisha Atkins is due to appear in the MTV documentary 'Married Life After Prison' and remarks attributed to her were circulated widely yesterday (December 4th).
"He wrote all them love songs and still don't know how to treat a bitch..." she ranted. "We spent ten-plus years building our marriage but it only took him two to decide he'd rather suck a dick than be with his wife."
Ja Rule was released from prison earlier this year, and promptly dismissed the claims via Instagram.
"Sorry to disappoint u guys who wanted so bad for the rumors to be true Merry Xmas haters from Mickey and Malerie #naturalbornkillers".
Ja Rule was sentenced to 28 months in prison for the non-payment of some £780,000 in taxes between 2004 and 2008. The rapper was also found guilty of possessing a semi-automatic handgun, which was uncovered by police following a show in 2007.
