Islet are set to release their new album 'Released By The Movement' on October 7th.
A DIY success story, Islet are a strange, beguiling phenomenon. Debut album 'Illuminated People' was a mixture of post-punk, Krautrock and scratchy 80s indie, but felt far more than the sum of its parts.
Continually moving forward, Islet are now ready to unveil their new statement. Due to be released via band member Mark Daman Thomas’s own Shape Records, 'Released By The Movement' finds the Welsh group continuing to stamp out their own identity.
Out on October 7th, new track 'Tripping Through The Blue Room (Part II)' is available to stream now. Seemingly emblematic of the direction explored on the album as a whole, Islet veering away from direction communication, swapping words for pure sound.
"Tripping Through The Blue Room (Part II) was named in homage to a song by Michael Yonkers, a forgotten then re-discovered 1960s technophile visionary" Emma Daman Thomas explains. "His song 'Tripping Through The Rose Gardens' has been an influence on us since the beginnings of Islet, and as we jammed one night in a blue room we realised the sounds we were making gave us that same sense of weightlessness".
Listen to it now.
