Iron And Wine Rarities Album Due

Sam Bean gathers odds and ends

Bearded San Francisco songwriter Iron And Wine is due to collect some of the rarer parts of his discography on new album 'Around The Well'.

Working in quiet seclusion for some time, Iron And Wine (real name Sam Beam) eventually appeared on the radar of legendary American indie Sub Pop.

Debut album 'The Creek And The Cradle' featured Sam Beam playing all the instruments, and its intimate atmosphere made the album a cult hit.

Last album 'The Shepherd's Dog' was a breakthrough of sorts for Beam, reaching the upper echelons of the Billboard Top 100. However, there is a lot more to Iron & Wine than just the studio albums - a prodigious worker, Beam has released multiple EPs and download only tracks which lie scattered.

Forthcoming album 'Around The Well' should join the dots, and will include such delights as covers of the Postal Service's "Such Great Heights", New Order's "Love Vigilantes", and the Flaming Lips' "Waitin' for a Superman".

Iron & Wine releases 'Around The Well' in the United States on May 19th.
