Invisible Players Launches
DJ tour returns
One of the most unusual tours in clubland is set to return this summer with Invisble Players unveiling a bill that includes Jazzie B, Jon Carter, Micachu and Gruff Rhys.
Now into its third year, Invisible Players takes the concept of a road trip to new limits. Crammed onto a bus, the new tour gathers some top names and heads off across the country for some banging parties.
Returning for another summer of abandon, this year's tour features some legendary names. Jazzie B began Soul II Soul as a soundsystem, before cracking the American charts. The iconic DJ was recently awarded an MBE, and if he can make the Queen jump and jive then you know he has to be worth seeing.
Joining the London maverick is up and coming singer Micachu. Taking to the road without her backing band The Shapes, the young talent is set to prove the DJ ability that resulted in early mixtape 'Filthy Friends'.
Also on the bill is top class DJ Jon Carter and Welsh psych-folk hero Gruff Rhys. Glasgow based David Shrigley is better known as an illustrator, with his darkly comic designs becoming cult objects. However Shrigley is set to put down his pen in favour of some seven inches, and join these crazy party animals on the original rizla touring van from the 1920s.
In a statement David Shrigley said "the tour is going to be a lot of fun, I’m excited about sticking my choice of records on, getting amongst the neon and palm trees and hopefully hosting a jumping party.”
Jazzie B reiterated his sentiments saying "the van looks really cool and it’s a great project incorporating the authentic spirit from the 1920’s. I’m looking forward to the different sounds, vibes and energy created by the Invisible Players.”
Invisible Players tour kicks off in Bristol on May 29th and spends the summer zipping around the UK, taking in festivals such as RockNess before a closing party in November.
