The Week's Releases Rounded Up
Today (December 8th) sees the release of Cat Power's new EP, 'Dark End of the Street', featuring four previously unpublished tracks and covers from artists such as Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding and The Pogues. 'Dark End of the Street' is available both digitally and on limited edition 10" vinyl.
Also this week comes Ladyhawke's 'My Delirium' and Dead Kid's debut single, a fizzy dirty, electro mash-up named 'Into The Fire'. Kings Of Leon's follow up from Sex On Fire, the first single from their highly successful album 'Only By The Night' which has slung them into a career of sold out stadium tours...and aspects of their private life being strewn across tabloid newspapers. 'Use Somebody', whilst not as dark and gritty as 'Sex on Fire', will no doubt exceed the public's expectations of the band as they continue to stamp their presence across Europe's music culture.
Sunderland four-piece The Futureheads also make a return after their well received album 'This Is Not The World' which was released in May earlier on this year. 'I Wouldn't Be Like This If You Were Here' wasn't included on the album, which gives you all the more reason to buy it, right?
Neon Neon release 'Dream Cars' of their 'Stainless Style' album today too. They managed to rope in Strokes' drummer (or Little Joy singer if you'd rather) Fab Moretti to sing all over it too.
And if none of these take your fancy, you can always download Terry Wogan and Aled Jones' bid for the Christmas number one. 'Little Drummer Boy/Peace On Earth' may not be Christmas-classic material, but I'd rather see that get the number one rather than bloody X-Factor.
