Ina Wroldsen Tap Into Norwegian Folklore On ‘Sea’

It's a bold statement from the alt-pop riser...

Announcing her new four-track EP 'HEX' to be released on June 15th, Ina Wroldsen releases an enchanting video for ‘Sea’. Directed by multi award-winning Norwegian talent Thor Brenne who has worked with Norway’s most exciting artists, ‘Sea’ is a beautifully dark story of the Norwegian folklore tale of The Nokken, a lethal immortal water spirit who makes deadly contact with unsuspecting human who cross its path.

With soaring vocals and icy atmospheric electronic ‘Sea’ is highly magical. Speaking about the EP, Ina said: “When I write for me, it’s so great because I can allow myself to say exactly what I want”. A natural storyteller, this freedom allows her to immerse her listeners in a magical world centred around both family and folklore. “I'm very into history and its darker elements,” she says. “Hex in Norway means witch, and I just love the word. I wanted people to be drawn into the world of the EP”.

Featuring collaborations with some of music’s most forward-thinking producers, including Jesse Shatkin (Sia, Charli XCX) and Edvard Erfjord (Little Mix), HEX is set to be a bold and enthralling opening statement from an already prolific songwriter.

Tune in now.
