Iggy Pop is set to host a special 6Music show on Christmas Day.
It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas…
For many, the festive period is a time to be with loved ones, for Trivial Pursuit and turkey sandwiches. Alongside this, though, there is a need for rest, a need to find your own headspace amidst the whirl of Advent.
6Music have just unveiled their festive schedule, and there are a few surprises. Iggy Pop is set to host two shows, including a very special instalment on Christmas Day itself.
Themed around "rockin’ rebels" you can expect plenty of punk rock debauchery from the Stooges frontman. Iggy Pop returns to the airwaves on New Year’s Day for a show which will be about "heartbreak and heartache".
"I was a little worried that the listening might feel ragged for the kind of people who can’t embrace Duane Eddy and, say, the Last Poets in the same hour with Doc Watson. Well, that’s too damn bad" said Iggy Pop. "I’ve listened to all this music for the shows and it all flows for me. I hope to reach out and touch you."
Elsewhere, Mick Jones and Paul Simonon are set to host a two hour special named 'This Is Radio Clash' on Boxing Day, while Brian Eno is set to drop past Jarvis Cocker's regular 6Music programme to showcase some "essential a cappella tracks".
