Iggy And The Stooges To Tour

Punk pioneers Iggy And The Stooges are set to complete a number of tours next year.

The Stooges are one of the most influential bands in rock history. Over the course of two albums they helped provide the blueprint for punk rock, before disintegrating after continual fall outs with their record label.

Superfan David Bowie coaxed the band back into action, inviting them to London to record new material. Assembling with a slightly different line up, Iggy And The Stooges laid down some white hot tracks that would go on to spark a revolution.

Released as 'Raw Power' the album was famously unhinged, with virtually every needle left pointing in the red. Helping to fire up young punks in Britain and the United States the album would become a touchstone for a generation.

The Stooges re-united in 2004, but with the death of guitarist Ron Asheton last year the band's future was thrown into doubt. Singer Iggy Pop however hinted that the group could continue - with the 'Raw Power' line up.

Confirmed to make an appearance in London next year, Iggy And The Stooges are set to play their album 'Raw Power' in its entirety, alongside some rarities. Now the singer has claimed that the band are due to play several more shows.

"We're going to be doing a one-off show in Brazil (on November 7th) but the real touring starts next year," he told BBC News.

Iggy Pop insisted that Ron Asheton remained a huge inspiration for the group. "His spirit within the group remains with the rest of us and he is still a presence within the group without being on the physical plain" he said of the late guitarist.

Iggy And The Stooges are due to play London next year.
