Horrors Vs The Internet

Comeback kings slate Facebook

Garage goth comeback kings The Horrors have picked a fight with Skynet, after the bands' Joshua Hayward claimed that he wanted to kill off the internet.

The Horrors have produced one of the most surprising turnarounds in recent times. The garage-goth group formed in London when the band were still teenagers, and were quickly catapulted into indie stardom.

Hugely hyped, the band's debut album 'Strange House' came out in 2007. Raw and inexperienced, the youngsters were slapped into a recording studio and told they wouldn't get out unless they wrote an album.

Ripped apart by the same critics who thrust them into the spotlight, The Horrors retreated back to their tiny rehearsal room to work on new material. Listening again to the music that inspired them, the band began crafting music that took on board influences such as krautrock and early electronica.

Follow up album 'Primary Colours' was released earlier this year. A stunningly ambitious album it stunned fans with range and ceaseless searching.

In an interview with The Independent lead singer Spider Webb claims that "when I discovered music for the first time, I was given a pair of (Dr Feelgood singer) Lee Brilleaux's Chelsea boots. Amazing worlds of music which they are a part of inspired us."

Singer Faris Badwan is renowned for his outlandish dress sense, and in the new interview the frontman claims he loathes the uniformity that drains the life out of the British high street. "I hate the culture of disposable music from the internet – like it's not there to be cherished, and picked out and put in a box, and categorised – well, I don't know if everyone does that," he laughs.

"But maybe a lot of people prioritise the wrong things."

Band member Joshua Hayward clearly agrees with him, claiming "I'm going to destroy the internet".

"Every social network site, every blog. No-one's happier now because of it. It's really interesting that now we have complete communication, we have less good underground bands. How is that?"

Not good, mate. We'd be on the dole for a start!

The Horrors' new album 'Primary Colours' is out now.
