Devendra Banhart has had some A-list help in preparing his new video, with girlfriend Natalie Portman being reincarnated as an octopus!
The two are romantically linked in real life, with Californian singer Devendra Banhart no doubt using his spectral alt folk melodies to woo her. In the video for new single "Carmensita" the actress plays a Princess who must be rescued from an evil king by a noble knight - played by Banhart.
The video is apparently intended as a spoof of Bollywood film, known for their frequently outlandish plots, massive dance scene and gratuitous sword play.
Devendra Banhart released his latest album "Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon" earlier this year, to warm reviews. The singer is famed for his high, keening delivery and songs that recall the glory years of hippy folk. A modern day Donovan, he is a true rambling troubadour, and is currently playing a handful of live dates across the USA to promote his latest LP.
