Heavenly Festival 2009 Launch
New Event For Reading
A new festival for the 2009 season has been announced, with the Heavenly Planet event set to take place on Little John's Farm in Reading on July 10th and 11th next year.
The new festival is set to focus on world music, and will be aimed at a family audience. Ironically, it will occupy the same site as the Reading festival - a bastion of rock music and far from family orientated. This year Reading was headlined by the always provocative Rage Against The Machine.
No details of the line up or ticket prices have been announced yet, with the festival still awaiting approval from the Reading Borough Council in a meeting on September 29th.
According to the organizers the festival will "evoke ideas of optimism, global awareness and an open-minded enthusiasm for music, culture and society."
The organizers have chosen arguably the worst time in twenty years to launch a festival, with the credit crunch already claiming a number of smaller, marginal events this summer. With a worsening commercial climate and a competitive marketplace Heavenly Planet will need a lot of luck to launch successfully.
Heavenly Planet festival will take place in Reading on July 10th and 11th.
