Haux Strikes A Subtle Note On ‘Cologne’

Plus, new London show confirmed...

When Woodson Black switched focus from photography to music, he knew the change wasn't something he could idly indulge.

Throwing himself into this fresh direction, he chose the name Haux and released stunning debut EP 'All We've Known' last year.

Gaining more than 50 million streams, it was an explosive beginning, a subtle, at times haunting document that underlined his incredible potential.

Pushed into playing live, Haux made his way across Europe, playing some beautiful venues in a series of historic cities.

Cologne, though, stood out. Something clicked, and Haux found himself scribbling a new song, inspired to craft fresh music.

New song 'Cologne' is the result. Named in honour of the German city, it billows with subtlety, the fluttering vocals set against a pared down arrangement.

Haux explains: “I’ve realised there are so many places I haven't seen in the world, so many faces that seem so familiar and yet somehow so far away. I try to imagine their lives and how they differ from my own. I know I'll never really know, but there's something about not knowing that gives me comfort and keeps me eager to see more people and places.”

“There was a certain magic about Cologne. It struck me as a place that I might've had another life in if I hadn't lived the life I have. When I was back home, off tour, I remembered that feeling and tried to imagine a life there and the story of what might have been”.

Tune in now.

Catch Haux at London's Hoxton Hall on November 9th.
