Shall Peter Hook actually be

Shall Peter Hook actually be playing records or just a pre-mixed cd?

Very harsh that lads, almost slanderous and entirely untrue.

As for playing records, Hooky plays off a cd mixer as I know it, like a huge amount of Dj's do.

Of course he does. Unless

Of course he does.

Unless he's actually learnt how to dj since the famous Youtube clips were shot in which case I retract the comment.

Is Peter Hook allowed to

Is Peter Hook allowed to make a complete arse of himself because he part owns the club?

Do yourself a favour, the word about Peter Hook has spread across the internet for some time, so your not doing very good PR is you're continuing to advertise him as a DJ when he is clearly not

James Masters

Well he was certainly mixing

Well he was certainly mixing CD’s when I saw him in Manchester just before New Years Eve so you might have to retract that. I suppose you’ve got the chance to see for yourself at the upcoming gigs.

As I do know Hooky personally, I’ve checked this out with him on your behalf and according to the man himself, he has a 9 minute intro which is on CD and the rest of his two and a half hour set is mixed live from CD’s.

As for the rumours I think this is a lot of jealousy coming from frustrated bedroom DJ’s at a rock star legend having considerable success on what they regard as their turf.

Well he certainly wasn't

Well he certainly wasn't mixing CD's watching the videos widely available online, would you like the links?

No jealousy involved at all, some folk spend money and time enjoying and playing to people with a skill that takes a while to achieve, and even then you have to keep spending both to even consider playing to a paying customer in a venue.
For someone to imitate that skill using a free CD from a magazine and pass himself off as a 'DJ ' then it's down to frustration and annoyance at their blatant use of their immature attitude and damn right offensive to those that put their hearts n souls in becoming DJ's

As said above, if he's able to DJ properly since the huge amounts of videos kicking around showing him neither DJing or attempting to do it properly, then i'll admit i'm wrong, until then.....

OK - here is a quickie from

OK - here is a quickie from Ralph Moore, Assistant Editor of Mixmag.

"I can answer the main part of this question. I interviewed Hooky on the phone for Mixmag several summers back and he professed to being a fan of Mixmag cover-mounts, and admitted that he uses them when he - ahem - "plays out". The one I'd just finished working on from Armand Van Helden started with a wonderfully memorable monologue from Armand that went along the lines of: "AVH....AVH... this is a Mixmag production!" And if you listen and look at the start of the clip below, you'll clearly hear the same Mixmag intro announcement."

Hooky used to be such a hero

Hooky used to be such a hero of mine with those basslines and true rock n roll attitude, and then I heard the rumours and saw the video on youtube. In the past he has made unfavourable comments regarding dj culture, and it wouldn't surprise me if he was sticking two fingers up and saying "anyone can do this" but if this is the case then it kinda tarnishes himimo. How would Mr Hook feel if I was to take my guitar hero guitar, and ps3 and palm myself off as rock god? It's amazing the way that celebrities can transform into djs over night (I look at Big Brother as a dj factory)
With regard to him only playing 9 min intros, I would say that he has access to a studio (damn he probably has one in his basement) so surely, instead of using a front mounted disc, he could use some of his genius to create something himself? I would love to believe Hooky is a greatdj, but I'm unsure. If anyone is about to accuse me of sour grapes, please don't. I'm a successful dj/promoter in my own right, and would never begrudge anyone any kind of success, if they have earn't it through dedication and skill. The only other thing i'd like to mention, is that the tour should be bigger!
