The Hacienda may be gone but its spirit lives on and an ultra-select DJ team from the club will be heading to Ibiza this summer to introduce a new generation of clubbers to its legacy.
The Hacienda was created by Factory Records as an innovative new club based in Manchester. With its luxurious interior and adventurous music policy it quickly established itself as a creative hub for the North of England. However, it wasn't to become the iconic beast we all know and love until the second summer of love, and the Acid House explosion, flung the club into national prominence.
The E generation flocked to the Hacienda, giving the club a decade long reputation for hedonism and - latterly - violence. Amongst the crack team of DJs keeping the flame alive in Ibiza this summer will be former Hacienda resident Graeme Park, former New order bassist Peter Hook and Acid House producer A Guy Called Gerald. Joining them will be a host of figures from the club's peak era, including Happy Mondays wildman Bez.
Based in the top Ibizan club of Eden, the Hacienda team aim to keep clubbers in Paradise. The DJs will play the following dates:
June 11th - Graeme Park
June 18th - A Guy Called Gerald
June 25th - Kevin Saunderson
July 2nd - Jon Carter
July 9th - Arthur Baker
July 16th - Jon Dasilva
July 23rd - Peter Hook
