Guy Ritchie Kasabian Ambitions

Leicester band could soundtrack new film

Leicester indie giants Kasabian could be in the running to soundtrack a new film by Guy Ritchie.

When Guy Ritchie married Madonna it was seen as a union of two bright young talents. One an internationally known singer, the other possibly one of the brightest film making talents to emerge from Britain in some time.

Springing to fame on the back of 'Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels' is seemed that Hollywood was waiting for Guy Ritchie. However his line of cockney gangster drama fell out of fashion just as Ritchie's marriage declined, with a divorce being finalised last year.

Guy Ritchie recently directed the film 'Rock N Rolla' which was loosely based on Pete Doherty. In the film a rock star goes into hiding and begins living in a crack den, echoing events from the Libertines life.

A big success, it marked a revival in British rock music. In a new interview Guy Ritchie admitted that he would like Kasabian to score his new film.

"The Kasabian album 'West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum' is the best thing I have heard this year. I've have been playing it non-stop," he told The Sun.

"I'd love to meet up with the band. The music on the latest album is like a film soundtrack. He's a talented bloke, Serge (Pizzorno)."

Kasabian's new album 'West Ryder Pauper Asylum' was released earlier this year, becoming one of their most successful to date.

Nominated for the Mercury Music Prize 2009 the band lost out to Speech Debelle, but are set to tour throughout the UK later this year.
