Grimes Working On Experimental Material

Reggaeton meets Industrial...

Grimes is seemingly working on an experimental new project, combining reggaeton and Industrial.

One of the year's real breakthrough artists, Grimes' new album 'Visions' has already spawned a wave of imitators. However Clare Boucher has no intention of standing still, and recently intimated that she is working on fresh material.

Seemingly eager to move into new areas, Grimes sat down with MTV Hive recently (via Pitchfork) and gave a few hints at to where her head is at.

"I've been working on more percussive noise music and also a lot of straight vocal music. I want to make dark percussive shit and... release an album that's halfway between ethereal reggaeton and industrial dance music but is still very pop in its song (structures)".

Reggaeton meets Industrial? Sounds very Kevin Martin if you ask us, but no specific dates have been mentioned as yet.

Elsewhere in the same interview, Grimes confirmed plans to release her own brand of chainmail. Following on from those much discussed pussy rings, Boucher will again collaborate with visual artist Morgan Black.

"I want to start bringing dancers along and have them wear crazy shit" she explained. "I want them to be topless, covered in glitter, wear S&M headmasks that are really big, black pants and black lipstick, and be all guys. Everyone will have bleached white hair".

Here's 'Oblivion'.
