Green Day Vinyl Re-Issue

US punks look back

Hugely successful American punks Green Day are due to re-issue their entire back catalogue on vinyl.

Hailing from California, Green Day took the punk template cut by The Clash and Stuff Little Fingers and injected a shrewd pop touch. A massive word of mouth success, the band sold thousands of tapes from the back of their van before signing their first record deal.

The new re-issue program includes some albums that have been out of print on vinyl for some time. Beginning with the band's first two albums '39/Smooth' and 'Kerplunk' the program will continue throughout 2009.

The band's breath-through album 'Dookie' is set to be re-issued on April 18th in honour of 'Record Store Day'. Selling millions across the planet, 'Dookie' remains one of Green Day's best loved albums.

‘39/Smooth’ was originally released in 1990 and will be available on 140-gram vinyl, along with two 7-inch singles ‘Slappy’ and ‘1000 Hours’.

‘Kerplunk’ came out in 1992, and will be available on 140-gram vinyl, along with the 7-inch single ‘Sweet Children’.

The band are due to release their new album later this year, their first since 2004's 'American Idiot'.

Green Day's re-issue program begins on March 24th.
