Green Day are set to headline this summer’s instalment of Reading and Leeds.
It was one of last year’s most popular web based memes, but Billie Joe Armstrong’s onstage meltdown – “I’m not Justin Bieber” – had some serious repercussions. Forced into rehab, the frontman’s departure halted an international tour and took Green Day out of the game.
Now they’re back. Green Day made their live return last night, and now British fans can get a slice of the action with the megastar punks set to headline Reading and Leeds this summer.
Part of a new wave of additions, Green Day will be joined by some exclusive performances. Nine Inch Nails are set to appear at the twin site festival, marking their only UK live appearance of 2013.
Elsewhere, other new additions include returning French act Phoenix, Frank Turner, Peace and former Clash Magazine cover star A$AP Rocky.
Newcomers include Deap Vally, while Bastille’s triumphant year continues with a confirmed slot at Reading and Leeds. Continuing to expand their dance music content, Reading and Leeds are set to welcome Grime pioneer Wiley, while Magnetic Man, Knife Party and more have been added to the bill.
Tickets are on sale now.
Reading and Leeds runs between August 23rd – 25th.
