Great Escape Confirm First Wave Of Acts

Brighton music showcase The Great Escape has named the first wave of acts for its 2010 instalment.

The Great Escape began as a small music showcase event on the South Coast. Since then it has grown into an important breeding ground for new talent, launching several acts towards unexpected stardom.

This year the event returns with a four day spectacular devoted to new music. Organisers have confirmed the first wave of acts to storm The Great Escape, with some of the most hotly tipped groups in the country descending on Brighton.

Topping the BBC's Sound Of 2010 poll, the year has started brightly for Ellie Goulding. With not even a Top 40 single to her name the singer has been given a Critics Choice BRIT Award, reflecting the hype around her.

Merging acoustic ballads with electro beats it seems to be only a matter of time before the singer smashes her way into the charts. Due to perform at The Great Escape later this year Ellie Goulding will be joined by some hotly tipped new acts.

Esben And The Witch are to release a new single through Too Pure later this year, bringing their spectral folk to the masses. Japandroids have also been confirmed to play The Great Escape this year, while twee folk duo Slow Club are set to drop by.

It could well be the bigger acts who steal the limelight, however, with Broken Social Scene set to unveil their new album in Brighton. Chase And Status will bring the noise while recent Top Ten stars Delphic are also due to appear.

The Great Escape is set to take place between May 13th - 15th.
