Graham Coxon Artwork

Solo album details emerge

Blur guitarist Graham Coxon has unveiled the artwork for his forthcoming album 'The Spinning Top'.

Graham Coxon left Blur in 2002 following a series of disagreements with his long time friend Damon Albarn. Coxon had already begun to release solo albums, which took a new emphasis following his departure from the band.

The guitarist seemed willing to prove he had retained his pop touch, and the previously lo-fi material suddenly took on a new pop-punk touch.

However it seems that Albarn and Coxon have set aside their differences with Blur set to play a series of live dates across the UK this summer. Graham Coxon has been busy of late working with Pete Doherty on his new solo album 'Grace/Wastelands' whilst also crafting his own material.

Coxon has apparently been influenced by the late 60s / early 70s folk boom for his new record. A concept album, it follows the life of a man from birth to death. The guitarist claimed in a recent statement to fans to have been listening to artists such as Davey Graham and John Martyn during recording sessions, with legendary folk bassist Danny Thompson appearing throughout.

Graham Coxon has designed the artwork to all his own solo albums, as well as Blur's '13'. Produced by Stephen Street, 'The Spinning Top' is due for release soon. To promote the album Coxon has arranged an instore at Pure Groove in London on April 18th.

Graham Coxon will release his new album 'The Spinning Top' on May 11th.
