Grace Jones For Ibiza

Disco goddess in one off show

One of the most iconic figures in the world of disco Grace Jones is due to perform a one off show in Ibiza this summer.

Born in the West Indies, Grace Jones moved to New York as a small child. An outsider, her striking looks made her an in demand model as racial barriers were breaking down in the world of fashion.

In the boiling pot of late 70s New York music, art and fashion intermingled in the city's disco scene. Grace Jones were one of the most iconic faces attached to the Studio 54 club, entering the pleasure palace entirely naked one night.

Jones became a muse for Andy Warhol. The famed photographer and artist took many shots of the singer, with some of the most iconic images from her career being captured by the famed artist.

Moving into the world of acting and music, Grace Jones began recording some seminal disco cuts. Snapped up by Island Records, the singer was given free reign and returned from the Compass Point studios in the Caribbean with the 'Nightclubbing' album - arguably her masterpiece.

Grace Jones released her album 'Bullletproof Heart' in 1989, before remaining silent for the next nineteen years. Throughout the 90s she concentrated on film and modelling work, although Grace Jones did actually record (and shelve) two albums.

Late last year Grace Jones made her long awaited comeback with the 'Hurricane' album. A striking return, it updated Jones' sonic palette but retained her imposing, domineering persona.

This summer Grace Jones will to the cradle of clubbing Ibiza for a very special one off show. Taking to the stage at legendary superclub Space the singer will perform at a night that has been billed as a celebration of her record label Wall Of Sound.

Taking over the 'We Love... Space' night, Grace Jones will appear alongside the likes of Aeroplane, Ocelot and Lottie.

Grace Jones made her spectacular return to the UK last year. Performing at the Bestival event on the Isle Of Wight, her headline slot was said to be one of the weekend's highlights.

Of course, this isn't the only thing that Space have lined up for this summer. One of the dance hotspots on Ibiza, the club will boast appearances by The Chemical Brothers, Hot Chip, 2ManyDJs, Felix Da Housecat and many more.

Grace Jones is set to play the following date:
