Gorillaz Drop New Album Details

Cartoon group return

Cartoon group Gorillaz are set to release their long awaited third album 'Plastic Beach' on March 8th.

Damon Albarn is a busy man. When not reforming Blur the singer can be found in The Good, The Bad And The Queen or even composing his own opera.

Aside from this, Albarn has perhaps achieved the most chart success with Gorillaz. Truly thoughtful pop, the cartoon band were formed with his then-flatmate Jamie Hewlett, with the pair crafting some sublime singles.

Two albums is pop genius followed, with a lengthy cast of collaborators. Everyone from De La Soul to Dennis Hopper dropped by, before the cartoon group decided to go on a shirt break.

Due to return this year, Gorillaz have dropped a number of hints about their third album 'Plastic Beach'. Singer Murdoc has his own Twitter page, and has been revealing a number of secrets to fans.

Speaking to the NME, the singer claimed that the new album would contain some famous guest stars. Confirming the album's tracklisting, Murdoc revealed that the likes of Lou Reed, Mos Def, Mark E Smith, Snoop Dogg, Bobby Womack, De La Soul and Super Furry Animals' Gruff Rhys are set to appear.

Murdoc also revealed a bizarre back story. Gorillaz "have taken up residence, recording on a secret floating island deep in the South Pacific, a Plastic Beach HQ, made up of the detritus, debris and washed up remnants of humanity. This Plastic Beach is the furthest point from any landmass on Earth; the most deserted spot on the planet".
