Good Books talk 2008 and 2009

Saturday Social guests on their new album...

Max from Kentish experimental indie sorts Good Books has spoken to Clash ahead of the band’s set at tomorrow’s Clash Saturday Social event.

The free-entry gig, held at London’s Notting Hill Arts Club from 4pm, also features Sunset Cinema Club, Cats In Paris and Johnny Foreigner, alongside DJs from Holy Roar, Clash and Fear & Records. Get information HERE.

Max told us the following about the year that was, and the year that will be…

“2008 began in style with all four Good Books staying in a flat that doubled up as an art gallery in Berlin, discovering some new music, new friends, new experiences and generally doing a bit of life. The rest of the year was spent writing, rehearsing and recording the next album.

“We played over 100 shows in 2007 but have only played about five this year and we've really missed it, so we'll rectify that next year. The album will be wrapped up by Christmas, so early 2009 we will be plotting and scheming how to get it onto people's stereos, how the sleeve will look and all that sort of thing.

“I can't wait to share the new record with the world. It feels like we have a lot more personally invested in this one than the last; every aspect of it has been our own work, from writing to playing, right down to microphone placement and mixing, so people will really hear the sounds from inside our heads.

“Finally we're planning on doing Europe properly this time round - so there's that to look forward to, as well as festivals in the summer...”

Did we mention that the band also gave ClashMusic.com an exclusive stream of their brand-new track ‘Manifesto’? No? Well get it into your ears HERE, and we hope to see you front and centre at the Clash Saturday Social tomorrow afternoon.
