Gomez, Maroon 5 Members Form Group
Operation Aloha launched
Members of chart slaying 90s acts Gomez, Maroon 5 and Phantom Planet have joined forced in a new band named Operation Aloha.
Gomez recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of the release of their 'Bring It On' album. Recorded in their garage, the album went on to claim the Mercury Music Prize and make the group's name.
With singer Sam Ottewell going on a solo tour, the rest of the band have been embarking in other projects. Dajon Everett, Ian Ball and Olly Peacock of Gomez, James Valentine and Jesse Carmichael of Maroon 5, and Sam Farrar of Phantom Planet joined eight other musicians and headed to Hawaii to soak up some sun.
The resulting album was inspired by their stay on the island of Maui and apparently contains the themes "tranquility, freedom and spirit of Hawaii".
The musicians apparently lived in tree houses during their 30 days stay on the island.
Operation Aloha will release their self-titled debut album on May 12th.
