Gold Panda has given his new EP 'Trust' a digital release - stream a preview below.
A shy, reclusive talent, Gold Panda has been quiet of late. A performance at Field Day last year demonstrated that the producer's live show had been toughened up, hinting a possible directions on his second album.
No sign of said LP as yet, sadly, although this afternoon did bring the announcement of a new EP. 'Trust' is a continuation of the work on 'Lucky Shiner' - beautifully produced, it matches an immaculate aesthetic appeal with a real sense of emotional weight.
According to Gold Panda crafting the material was about “trusting yourself that something is good”. Continuing, the producer said: "[It's about] Trusting your instincts.I make a lot of music but not much gets to see the light of day… but I trust my judgement that these tracks are worthy enough to commit to vinyl".
Seemingly the spark for 'Trust' was fuelled by a desire to get away from the computer screen. “The inspiration was just getting away from computers/laptops made my arrangements a bit more free and natural I think. Just jamming and looking out my window. Then taking a walk to see what I recorded, going back and copying the live arrangement. (Apart from Casyam_59#2 which is my mate showing me the sounds his Yamaha keyboard could make over a loop I made with a cheap Casio one). I think I've stripped out a layer of my music since lucky shiner, maybe it was feeling too cluttered, I think these tracks and the tracks for the new album have more space, but don't feel empty."
