Glasvegas To Record In Producers House
Rick Rubin welcomes Scots
Scottish indie titans Glasvegas have revealed that they are set to record their second album in producer Rick Rubin's house.
Glasvegas make one of the most epic noises in British rock. A blend of tribal drums, white noise and threatening vocals make for one of the most titanic live experiences around - particularly when surrounded by patriotic Scots.
With their debut album being nominated for the Mercury Music Prize the band have decided to ship out to the United States to record new material.
Playing a final secret show in London before they left, Glasvegas played a stripped down set including a cover of The Carpenters classic 'Close To You'.
Planning to record their new album with Rich Costey, singer James Allan recently revealed that super producer Rick Rubin has personally asked for some input.
"I'm going to leave all the stuff about which studio to use to Rich Costey but Rick Rubin wants us to record the drums at his house," the singer told the NME.
"We were supposed to go over there a few days ago but we've put it off for a couple of weeks because it felt like it was going too well (initial recording) in Glasgow."
Rick Rubin of course is one of the most famous producers on the planet, capable of working with Red Hot Chili Peppers one day and Neil Diamond the next. Always keen to give music an emotional impact the mind boggles at what he could achieve with Glasvegas swirling storm.
"We're working on the new album right now" James Allan admitted. "We've got this small rehearsal room in Glasgow and we've been recording the new album in demo form. I'd like to get the entire album done like that in demo form before going to LA to record it in big studio."
"It is an album of love songs. It is a definite follow on from the debut, which also had love songs on it, but was mainly about having aspirations to love."
Glasvegas are due to release their new album next year.
