Glasvegas Return To London
Scots group in intimate show
Gloomy Scottish types Glasvegas have surprised fans by returning to London for an intimate show.
Despite being capable of filling sizeable venues across the nation, Glasvegas have a peculiar love of secret shows.
With their roots in Glasgow's DIY music scene the band have often played shows in surprising locations. Earlier this year, for example, Glasvegas performed in a vintage clothes shop in their hometown.
Soon after, though, Glasvegas were rocked when their singer James Allan went missing. Departing the group on the eve of the Mercury Music Prize ceremony, the band were forced to pull out of a live performance.
It later emerged that the singer had merely departed to America ahead of their Stateside tour. Re-united with the band, Glasvegas went on to play a lengthy tour of the United States before returning home.
On Friday night (October 30th) Glasvegas returned to London for the first time since James Allan's disappearance.
The singer and his guitar playing brother Rab Allan played at the Parker McMillan venue in London as part of the This Feeling club night. Running through a brace of songs from their debut album, Glasvegas also played a snippet of the old Carpenters hit 'Close To You'.
"I'm trying to think of a way to say goodbye," James Allan told the crowd during the performance, "but this is the best way I can. It means a lot you coming to see the band, so… I fucking love you."
Glasvegas are now set to fly out to Los Angeles to work on their second album.
