Glasvegas Plan Festival Assault

Band prepared for summer season

Scottish gloom rockers Glasvegas have admitted they felt they were "terrible" during last year's festivals.

With a Phil Spector drum beat, some distorted guitars and heart-felt vocals telling life on the rough side of the tracks Glasvegas seemed an irresistible proposition last summer. The band played a series of festival shows that saw audiences become increasingly crazed, with their set at T In The Park drawing thousands to the tiny T Break tent.

One of those moments which will go down in festival history, fans sang every word of the set as Glasvegas seemed overcome by the response of the crowd. The show seemed to galvanise the band, who released their smash hit debut album shortly after.

But it seems that Glasvegas are never happy. In a new interview with the blog Music Minded he admits he felt the band were not on form at those now iconic festival shows.

"Last year we were really unprepared and terrible," he said. "That was purely lack of experience and we didn't know what to expect."

The four piece are set for another busy summer this year, but are fresh from extensive touring and a stunning performance at SXSW. Glasvegas will play Coachella this weekend (April 17th - 19th) before coming home for a number of dates.

"This time around we're probably more experienced as a band and we know what we're going into," he said. "To be honest (festivals can be like a) cattle market. Every band gets thrown onstage then dragged back off."

"It's so quick. I think if you go into it looking at it like that, you won't be too disappointed. The most important thing is that everyone at the front enjoys it."
