Glasvegas Join Oya Festival

Crystal Castles for Norway event

One of Scandinavia's best parties just got a little wilder with Oya Festival in Norway adding Scottish gloom-rockers Glasvegas to their bill.

Set in a Medieval park on the outskirts of Oslo, Oya is a genuine delight. The festival combines a keen interest in the arts with a lust for partying, showcasing emerging music alongside some old favourites.

In previous years the festival has boasted a bill that has included Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, Grinderman and more.

This year's events just got a little rowdier with the introduction of Glasvegas. The Scottish group stormed British festivals last summer, with fans mobbing the T Break tent at T In The Park. One intrepid Clash reporter was turned away due to overcrowding, so he simply slipped under the wall of the tent to watch the set.

The group will take their feedback drenched drone to Oslo this summer, joining headliners such as Sheffield indie giants Arctic Monkeys.

Other new additions to the festival line up include Brit Award winners Florence And The Machine, New Zealand electro minx Ladyhawke and Crystal Castles. One of the most controversial groups around, Crystal Castles live sets combine blistering strobe lights with chiptune hysterics and shrieked vocals - we promise you, it's a lot more fun than it sounds.

Amongst the other big names peppered across the bill at Oya this summer are Band Of Horses, Lily Allen, Grizzly Bear and homegrown heroes Royksopp.

As ever, after the festival stops the fun begins with a ton of clubnights operating in Oslo to cater for music fans in the mood to party.

Oya Festival takes place between August 11th - 15th.
