Glasvegas Cancer Benefit Show

Scots to help raise funds

Gloomy Scots Glasvegas are set to star at a forthcoming concert in aid of a cancer charity.

Glasvegas aren't exactly a happy bunch on stage. Clad in black, shrouded in white light the band resemble a 1950s biker gang while their noise-rock anthems come pouring out of the speakers.

However the band had yet more reason to look unhappy recently. Attending the Mercury Music Prize ceremony Glasvegas were scheduled to perform live, but were forced to pull out after singer James Allan went missing.

The frontman performed in a Glasgow clothes store alongside his brother Rab Allan, before leaving the group behind. Eventually found in New York the singer was re-united with Glasvegas for a series of American tour dates.

Now the band are due to return to the UK for a very special show. Taking place in the Parker McMillan venue in London the forthcoming show will help raise money for Team Continuum cancer charity.

James Allan explained in a statement that he agreed to play the gig to help his friend John Codling, who is attempting to raise $1million (£629,000) for the charity by running the New York marathon on November 1st.

Also due to perform at the This Feeling club night are Welsh hip hop group Goldie Lookin Chain, Them:Youth, The Ruling Class and Jem Cooke.

Glasvegas are due to play the following UK tour date:

October
30 London Parker McMillan
