Glastonbury Weather Forecast
Looks like it could be rain...
It's only a few sleeps until Glastonbury but there could be a few sleepless nights for campers with some predicting rainy spells.
Some of us here at ClashMusic actually enjoy camping in the rain. The delicate pitter-patter of rainfall on the tent is fairly relaxing, although we must admit that a torrential downpour does rather put your musical plans in the shade.
The fate of Glastonbury hinges more than most events on the weather. In previous years heavy rains have turned the fields of Worthy Farm into a mud bath, with festival goers returning home looking as if they have done service in the trenches of the Somme.
However on the occasions that the sun does come out, Glastonbury erupts into a sea of good vibes. After last year's controversial instalment the event's organisers are hoping for smooth sailing, with some blaming poor weather for last year's slow ticket sales.
The latest from meteorological office Metcheck is that some showers could hit the Somerset festival on Friday (June 26th). However the report does indicate that things could get clearer as the weekend progresses.
In a report on the site Metcheck claims that rain will set in around 4pm and continue throughout the evening. However temperatures will be high, possibly reaching 23 degrees Celsius in the daytime.
On Saturday (June 27th) Worthy Farm should stay warm but could also see light drizzle, while Sunday (June 28th) will close with sweltering temperatures of 27 degrees. With no rain at all predicted throughout the day, Sunday could well be a roaster.
The camping area opens on Wednesday (June 24th).
This year's festival has erred towards the traditional. After enduring criticism for last year's inclusion of rapper Jay-Z the event has returned to its roots as a guitar festival.
Headliner Bruce Springsteen will make his British festival bow at Glastonbury, with The Boss set to be joined by Neil Young, Blur and more. However organisers have managed to squeeze some hip hop onto the bill - N.E.R.D. are the latest act to be confirmed for the legendary event.
Glastonbury takes place between June 24th - 28th.
