Glastonbury Praise Springsteen

Eavis bigs up The Boss

Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis has heaped praise on this year's headliner Bruce Springsteen in a new interview.

After a stunning opening to the year in which Springsteen released his new album, played the Superbowl and performed at Barack Obama's inauguration, the New Jersey songwriter is set to headline Glastonbury.

With a career in music stretching back forty year, the evergreen star has honed his live act to perfection. Capable of playing three hour sets, The Boss can call on one of modern music's most prestigious back catalogues.

In a new interview Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis praised the American singer.

"I saw him in Cardiff last autumn and honestly I haven't seen anybody like him," he told the BBC. "There is no-one better in the world."

Eavis claims he wrote the musician a personal letter asking him to play the event. Last year's festival was dogged by criticism, with its headliner Jay-Z enduring a torrid time from traditionalists and tickets selling extremely slowly.

"It was scary for a while and I lost a bit of sleep too," he said. "I've been doing this show for 39 years and I've never lost sleep before. It was worth it though seeing Jay Z and his wife Beyonce. She said she'd never seen anything like it before in her life."
