Glastonbury Debates Flag Ban
Have your say!
The organisers of Glastonbury has asked fans if they should ban flags from the main arena.
They are a staple of festival life. Enormous flagpoles jut out of the mosh pit in front of the main stage, like a hyperactive porcupine. However not everyone is a fan, with some festivals banning flagpoles altogether.
Earlier this week the organisers of metal event Download banned flags from the main arena, arguing that they impede view of those behind them. The Donnington event is falling in line with numerous festivals across Europe, with the days of towering flagpoles at festivals seemingly numbered.
Now the organisers of Glastonbury have asked fans if they should follow suit. On the festival's official website a poll is debating whether a ban on flagpoles should be introduced at Worthy Farm.
Set to return for a 40th anniversary bash this summer, tickets for Glastonbury are long since sold out. It seems that those set to attend are unsure of the new proposal, with over 12,500 taking part.
Currently, the Glastonbury crowd is locked almost 50/50 with slightly more against the ban's introduction.
