Glastonbury Crime Up
Good Weather Blamed
Crime at this year's Glastonbury Festival soared, with Somerset police blaming the unusually temperate weather.
According to police figures crime was up 78% on the year below, with 751 reported incidents. Camp goers complained of thefts throughout the weekend, with many taking advantage of the good weather to plunder empty tents.
These are the highest figures since 2003, when Glastonbury was last freed form the curse of torrential rain. Superintendent Adrian Combs said: “The better the weather the higher the crime levels. This year’s were similar to those in 2003 when there was also good weather.”
Despite this, many festival goers said that Glastonbury was the best in year's, being headlined by Kings Of Leon, Leonard Cohen and many more.
Tickets for Glastonbury 2009 went on sale on October 5th, with over half going on the first day.
